OMG! Austin was a really hot, humid and crazy fun!
“If you’re in The Big Boy Club, bring plenty of Gold Bond” – RK4
We played 6 shows in 3 days and spent the rest of the time finding shade, cold beer and delicious food. We played the parking lot of a cafe on South Congress, stinky bar on 6th St, a pizza parlor in East North Loop, an outdoor stage of a bar on Rainey, a pizza parlor in the university neighborhood and in a back yard barn. We also spent a half a day at Flatstock 29, a rock poster show in the convention center and it was overwhelmingly awesome. Hal is pretty bummed that they didn’t invite him (Hal has a screen printing company – The Stout Shack) but he represented anyway.
We stayed all 4 nights at Laura and Howie’s and they were super hospitable not only to us, but to a bus full of folks from Tucson that played in other bands. The bus people were cool, most notably Dave from Holy Rolling Empire for walking to pick up 17 hamburgers at 3am and coming back, waking everyone up and making them get in a 4′ X 6′ chain link cage to eat them.
We had a big BBQ/bonfire party our last night there and played in The Music Barn along with History Machine and Treasure Mammal. History Machine are a bunch of cool dudes from Tempe and Treasure Mammal wear spandex body suits, hang from rafters and “sing” about various hilarious topics.
Sunday, after dropping Dixon off at the airport, we started driving through Texas and blew 2 tires only about 100 miles apart. Being that it was after hours on a Sunday we slept in Vanatee in front of the tire shop and did some night photography. I hope you approve Chris.
“I miss you dudes so much. I have major post-tour depression…” – Dixon

We drove the remaining 24 hours straight, got home this morning and slept all day. We have a ton more pictures and video we hope to edit and get it online within the next couple of weeks.
